Essential PlusListed-component coverage extending beyond the powertrain

Essential Plus builds on specified engine, transmission, transfer-case and drive-system component coverage by adding listed components in additional vehicle systems.

Examples include the air-conditioning compressor, water pump, alternator, starter motor and listed steering components. Coverage applies to the specific components identified in the agreement rather than every component within a named system.

Seals and gaskets are covered when needed with a covered repair. Certain vehicle configurations and additional coverage may require applicable surcharges.

Added systems include
Air conditioning and heatingCoolingGasoline fuelElectricalSuspensionBrakesABSSteering
PremiumExpanded listed-component coverage

Premium includes the Essential Plus component lists and adds specified components across additional areas of the vehicle.

The factory audio coverage described in the applicable agreement excludes speakers and graphic equalizers.

Coverage remains subject to the agreement’s component descriptions, exclusions, limits and applicable surcharges.

Additional covered components include

ExclusiveBeeCovered’s broadest coverage option offered through Atlas

Exclusive uses a different coverage approach. Rather than providing only a list of covered components, the agreement identifies parts and services that are not covered. Component breakdowns are covered unless excluded, subject to the agreement’s complete terms, conditions and limits.

Hybrid-battery coverage requires the applicable option and surcharge. Engine blocks, cylinder heads and certain housings also have specific coverage conditions.

Review the complete applicable agreement to understand the exclusions, limits and requirements for your vehicle.

Examples of exclusions include
Maintenance and wear itemsBody and trim componentsGlassBrake pads and rotorsSafety-restraint components
Powertrain ChoiceListed-component coverage for the powertrain and selected additional systems

Powertrain Choice identifies covered components within the engine, factory turbocharger or supercharger, transmission, transfer case and drive axle. It also includes specified components within additional systems such as air conditioning, heating, cooling, fuel and electrical.

Examples include listed air-conditioning components, the radiator, alternator, starter motor and power-window components.

Seals and gaskets are included when required as part of repairing or replacing covered parts under the coverage description. Standalone leaking seals and gaskets are not covered. Certain housings are covered only when damaged by a covered internally lubricated part.

DeluxeListed-component coverage across a wider range of vehicle systems

The coverage description also includes specified factory-installed comfort equipment and certain EV and hybrid components.

Examples include specified navigation and entertainment equipment, certain driver-assistance systems and additional electrical components.

Leaking seals and gaskets on listed covered parts are included in the coverage description, although minor fluid loss or seepage is not treated as a mechanical breakdown. Component-specific conditions and the complete agreement still apply.

Ultimate New Car CoverageBroad coverage defined primarily by exclusions

Ultimate uses an exclusionary coverage approach. It describes coverage for vehicle assemblies and parts, including eligible EVs and hybrids, except for items identified as not covered and circumstances addressed by the agreement’s exclusions.

The coverage description also identifies an optional maintenance plan that applies only when the applicable surcharge is selected.

Why the documents matter

Coverage summaries are not your contract

Coverage summaries are useful for comparing options. But they are not your contract. Your issued agreement and applicable schedule or registration page determine the coverage that actually applies to you.

Similar plan names do not necessarily mean similar coverage. The actual agreement controls.

Before purchasing, review

Choosing an option

Which coverage option is right for my vehicle?

There isn’t one coverage option that is automatically right for every driver or every vehicle. When comparing options, consider more than the plan name.

Look at the actual covered componentsA heading such as “electrical” or “transmission” does not necessarily mean every component within that system is covered. Listed-component agreements identify the specific eligible parts.
Look at the exclusionsExclusionary coverage should be evaluated by carefully reviewing what the agreement specifically excludes.
Check eligibilityNot every coverage option may be available for every vehicle. Vehicle characteristics and applicable eligibility and state requirements can affect which options are available.
Understand the deductibleAsk about our $100 or $0 deductible options. Your actual deductible and any other amounts you may owe depend on your contract and the applicable repair.
Check when coverage beginsYour agreement may require specified time and mileage requirements to be satisfied before breakdown coverage begins. Review the applicable waiting period, term and mileage limits.
Maintenance versus breakdown protectionRoutine maintenance and wear items are generally treated differently from covered mechanical breakdowns. If an optional maintenance package is available, confirm that it has actually been selected and review its individual benefits and limits.
Additional contract benefits

Benefits depend on the applicable agreement

Rental and travel benefitsCertain agreements may include benefits related to rental transportation or trip interruption. Availability, limits and conditions depend on the applicable agreement.

Common questions

Common questions about vehicle service contracts

Is a vehicle service contract the same as a manufacturer’s warranty?

No. A vehicle service contract is a separate agreement with its own coverage, exclusions, conditions and term.

If your vehicle has an existing manufacturer’s warranty, dealer coverage or another service contract, review that coverage for possible overlap.

Learn More: Warranty vs. Vehicle Service Contract
Does a system name mean every component is covered?

Not necessarily. For listed-component coverage, the agreement identifies the specific components that are eligible.

For exclusionary coverage, review both the coverage description and the complete list of exclusions and conditions.

Can I choose any Atlas coverage option shown on this page?

Not necessarily. Available options depend on your vehicle and applicable eligibility and state requirements.

An Atlas representative can discuss the options available for your situation.

Are maintenance benefits automatically included?

Do not assume so. Some coverage materials describe optional maintenance benefits that apply only when the applicable option or surcharge is selected.

Your individual agreement determines the benefits you purchased.

How do I start a claim?

If you already have coverage and your vehicle experiences a mechanical problem, follow the claims instructions in your issued agreement. The administrator identified in your contract handles applicable claim authorization. Authorization may be required before repairs are performed.

Understanding the differences is the first step

When you’re ready, tell Atlas about your vehicle and speak with a representative about the coverage and payment options available for your situation.
